In Your Footstep

Part 7

We stayed in touch during our break, but it was nice to be away from them for a spell. I liked the guys well enough, but we spent way too much time together, after a while you couldn’t help but get on some one’s nerves. I spent a weekend or two hanging out with Abbey and Scott. They were hard at work on a new CD. As for me I wasn’t doing anything for once, no solo album, no tour, not even promotional stuff. I was just relaxing for once and it was nice. I thought I might get used to it. But I love my work, I wouldn’t be doing anything else.

I wasn’t surprised though when I got a invitation in the mail to Ann and JC’s wedding. I was glad to attend, I had gotten a hold of the others and as a wedding present we were sending them to Europe and Africa to 2 weeks for their hunny moon. We had also decided as a group to start a new album once JC got back, so he would have some extra money to care for his wife.

We all got together for the Bachelor party, it reminded me of our early Nsync days to tell you the truth, pretty girls and lots of drinking. Only this time Scott and Danny were there along with some of JC family and friends from back home.

“You better enjoy this, I am starting to wish I had done more at my party.” Scott said patting JC on his back. “So how is the married life any way?” I asked having not seen him in awhile. Their group was still pretty busy touring. “It has it’s ups and downs but I couldn’t have married a better woman. I did after all marry my best friend.” Scott explained.

“Ann’s a good girl you better take good care of her.” Danny warned. “I will man you don’t have to worry about that.” JC said wrapping his arm playfully around one of the strippers. “Once she marries you that girl should be set for life, she’ll never have to work again. Ann might get lost in those big houses of yours.” Scott said. “She won’t get lost, they aren’t that big.” JC explained.

“Hey Justin!” JC yelled running to catch up with me as I left the others to use the restroom. “What’s up man?” I asked as he caught up with me. “I just wanted to thank you.” JC said. “Thank me for what?” I asked not really sure what he was talking about. “You helped me realize that Ann was the one. I can truly say with out a doubt, that I want to spent the rest of my life with her.” JC explained. “That’s awesome dude, and I am really happy for you, but I didn’t do anything.” I said, mainly because I didn’t think I had done anything.

“You’re a great friend, how can I ever re-pay you?” JC asked looking me in the eye, like he expected the typical ‘you don’t owe me anything’ response. But you should know by now that I am not typical. “Here’s is something you can do for me.” I said getting serious. “Sure, what do you need?” JC asked. “If Ann truly is as special to you as you clam she is, promise me right now, that you won’t ever let her go. Because let me tell you form experience, the kind of love your talking about is rare. You won’t find it again.” I explained.

JC got quite, I think he was seeing aside of me he had never seen before, and it was taking him awhile to process it. He blinked as if coming out of a coma. “Your totally right for once. I had never thought of that before. You are very insightful. Why is it your still single?” He asked actually appearing to be intrigued. “It’s rare, your lucky.” I snapped. I think he got the point, that I didn’t want to talk about me and women. “Anyway thanks. You’re a true friend.” JC replied patting me on the back and then running to rejoin his friends back at his party, while I continued on my way to the restroom with out being stopped again.

The night got interesting when we got JC drunk and then made fun of him. He revealed interesting information about he past relationships and more importantly his current relationship. A drunk man rarely lies and I was surprised to find out according to him, he and Ann had not had sex yet, but he apparently had big plans for their 2 week hunny moon. His list of things to do hardly involved leaving the hotel room.

Once the party was over we crashed at a hotel and waited for the morning to come. Knowing JC as well as I do we decided to have to Bachelor party a few days before the wedding, to give him plenty of time to recover. Ann would have been very upset to see the groom hung over at their wedding, I would hate to see him ruin such a good thing over something stupid.

The wedding was pretty fancy, I’m guessing that was JC’s doing. Ann wasn’t one for big fancy stuff, like I said before she was simple girl with simple taste. But JC wanted her to have the best of everything, and I guess as long as he was paying for it, she went along with it. JC had asked one of his friends from back home to be his best man, I was a little upset that he didn’t pick me, but it was nice to just enjoy the evening with out having to actually be involved in it.

During the ceremony, I took my mother as my date, after all she had known JC for just as long as I had, JC was like a son to her, all the guys were. Abbey was of course looking just as lovely as she always does, standing next to her best friend as she vowed to spend the rest of her life with the man she loved. It was a fitting place for her. Abbey would always stand beside her friends and the girl doesn’t back down from anything. She the kind of person you would want at your side.

JC looked surprisingly confident as he made promises I had never thought he‘d keep, but I knew with Ann, he meant what he was saying. There was nothing wrong about the joining of those two people. I think I heard angles sing some where off in the distance as they looked into each others eyes and swore in front of everyone, that they would love, honor and obey each other until death do them part.

It was becoming a habit of mine to get so emotional about this stuff. I had seen two of my friends marry wonderful women, while I was still wandering if such a thing eve existed. How does it go, “Always a bridesmaid but never a bride.”?

I would like to tell you the wedding was perfect, but there is no such things, something always goes wrong, you just always leave that part out of the story when you talk about it later. Ann was looking absolutely lovely in her gown. I am pretty sure it was the only time I had seen her in make-up. She really was an attractive girl she just wasn’t one to show it, I have to say JC would have been the one to look past all that and she her true beauty.

Baby had back though, but I guess JC liked that, I mean it wasn’t a bad thing. She was the girl next door JC had been talking about for awhile, I am glad he found her, or she found him, or how ever it happened. I am glad it happened.
