A web site promoting Joey’s new movie is about to land one fan a dream date with Nsync's premeire actor.

Dream Date with Joey

Jennifer was sitting in the middle of one of the most boring computer classes she had ever taken. The teacher was old and half blind, so she figured that he wouldn’t notice her checking her e-mail. She smiled as she read through the subjects, then stopped when she came to one from Nsync.com. She clicked on it, after all anything had to be better than this class.

The e-mail popped open and she skimmed through it. Jennifer stopped dead in her tracks, she could help but smile. The web site was promoting Joey’s new movie and to do so they were giving away a dream date with Joey. She quickly clicked on the link and went to the site. She was so caught up in filling out the form, she didn’t see the teacher come up behind her.

“Win a Dream date with Joey Fatone, I think you should be more worried about your grade than that Back street Boy Fantasy.” He said. Jenn blushed, because now everyone in the class was looking at her. They laughed as she sank down into their chair. “God, Mr. Smith you are so thick, Joey’s not from the Back Street Boys, he’s from Nsync.” One of the most popular girls replied. The room got a little quieter. “I’m sorry Miss. Porter, but I just can’t keep up with all those boy bands.” He replied.
Jenn smiled, relieved that the class had moved on, but she knew that she would never live this down. Everybody was going to think she was a tiny bopper and she wasn’t that bad. She quickly hit send before getting her things and heading to next class.

Carry Porter stopped her in the hall. “Don’t let people get to you, I think it’s great that you are so open about liking Nsync.” Carry said. “Don’t tell me you like them too.” Jenn asked in disbelief. “Yeah, but I’m a closet fans. It’s not cool to like Nsync.” She replied. “You can’t help what you like, but thanks for sticking up for me in there.” Jenn said. “Don’t mention it, see you around.” Carry said then walked off to join her popular friends.

Jenn smiled then took a deep breath, then left to go to the next class. A week later Jenn was once again checking her e-mail in Mr. Smith’s class. She over looked the many forwards, then saw she had another e-mail from Nsync.com. She clicked on it and waited for it to pop up. “Oh, my god no way!” Jenn yelled reading over the first couple lines.

“Is there something you would like to share with the rest of us?” Mr. Smith asked. He was always picking on her, and she hated it. But she smiled sweetly, “Yes, there is actually.” Jenn replied. “And what would that be?” He asked, the whole class was now watching her. Suddenly she didn’t fell so nervous. “I’m going on a date with Joey Fatone.” Jenn said with a smile. The whole class laughed and Jenn once again felt stupid.

After class let out, Carry walked over to her. “Were you for real?” She asked. “I think so, I got an e-mail saying I had won, but it was probably just some sick joke from the guys in our class.” Jenn said. “If it was from Nsync.com, it’s no joke and that is so cool.” Carry explained. “There was a number for me to call, so we’ll see later if it’s for real.” Jenn explained. The two girls said bye then rushed off to be with their friends.

Later that day Jenn told her mom about the e-mail from Nsync.com. Her mom knew what a big fan she was and told Jenn to call the number, after all it couldn’t hurt. Jenn felt kind of stupid as she dialed the number. After a few rings some one answered. She told them her name and waited as they rustled through some papers. “Oh, yes, here it is, you must be our contest winner.” The girl on the other end said. “Yeah, I entered on the website.” Jenn said not sure what was going on at this point.

“You are so lucky, I ran it by Joey this morning and he can’t wait to meet you.” She replied. “You ran it by him?” Jenn questioned. “Yeah, I had to find out when he would be in that area so we could set up the date.” She said, Jenn could hear her typing at a computer. “So, this is for real, I’m really going on a date with Joey Fatone?” Jenn asked in disbelief. Her mom smiled at her as she was listening in on her conversation.

“Yes, you are. Joey would never stand up a fan. He’s going to be in that area next week actually if that would be okay with you.” She said. “Next week is fine.” Jenn said. “Okay, how about Thursday night then?’ She asked. Jenn looked at her mom, “I’m a senior in high school and that would be a school night.” Jenn said. “Oh, well then I’m afraid we would have to wait until next month so time for Joey to have a weekend available.” She said sounding almost as disappointed as Jenn.

Jenn’s mom walked up to her. “It’s okay if it’s a school night just don’t be out too late.” Her mom said knowing that this meant more to her that school. “You know what Thursday is fine, I’m young it won’t bother me to go to school tired.” Jenn said. “Great, I’ll let Joey know and he’ll pick you up around 5.” She said. “Okay, bye then.” Jenn said and then hung up. After she set the phone down she started to jump up an down. “Mom this is so cool, you have no idea.” Jenn yelled. ‘Sure I do, except when I was your age it was the Beatles.” Her mom said walking into the other room.

Jenn survived the longest week she had ever encountered. She didn’t talk about the date with Joey too much for fear that they would just make fun of her more. But when Carry asked her in the hall way before Mr. Smith’s class if the e-mail had been legitimate. Jenn smiled and said, “Yeah it was and we’re going on this Thursday.”
“That is so coo, you’re so lucky. You’ll have to tell me everything.” Carry replied. “Are you sure what about your popular friends won’t they make fun of you for talking to me?” Jenn asked. “Yeah probably, but I’ll get over it.” Carry said shrugging her shoulders.

The girls must have been talking louder than they thought because when they entered the class room the students almost immediately started to harass Jenn. “Do you really think he’s going to show, when he sees you he will run the other way.” One boy said. “No he won’t, Joey is a really nice guy. You just jealous.” Jenn snapped. “Yeah, whatever, he’s probably expecting some 10 year old, not a high school senior. You need to grow up Jenn.” One of Carry’s popular friends replied.

“You guys leave her alone, I think it’s cool. I mean he’s a big celebrity.” Carry said trying to help. It worked a little, but the next few days were hell and that Thursday just before the date was the worst. But Jenn wasn’t going to let them get her down. She went home and got ready. Jenn didn’t want to over do it or make it seem like she was trying too hard.

It was almost 5 on the dot when the door bell rang. Jenn answered it expecting to see the limo driver or some one else. She was shocked to find the 25 year old pop star himself standing on her porch. “Hi, you must be Jenn.” Joey said with a smile. “Uh, yeah I’m Jenn.” Jenn replied feeling stupid. “Great, let’s go.” Joey said offering her his arm, which she quickly took. He was such a gentleman he opened the door from her and everything, even gave her a red rose.

“I hope you don’t mind but there is this great Italian restaurant, around here and I thought we could have dinner there.” Joey said once they were in the limo. “That’s fine, I love Italian.” Jenn said. “Really me too.” Joey said with a big smile. “I knew that.” She said. “I bet you did, I bet you know everything about me don’t you?” Joey asked looking over at her. “I know a lot, but not everything.” Jenn replied.

“So tell me about you.” Joey said turning to face her. “What do you want to know, I mean I am just a small town girl.” Jenn laughed. “How old are you?’ Joey asked. “18.” Jenn said, she was in awe by him. He was so close to her, he was so perfect, everything she had imagined him to be. “That’s nice I thought I was going to end up going to dinner with a 6 year old.” Joey said turning the other way. “that’s funny, that’s what my classmates said. Except they said it was a 10 year old.” Jenn said. “10, that’s a little better. I was scared, but this is okay, I can handle this.” Joey explained. “Yeah they were making fun of me because I was too old to be an Nsync fan.” Jenn said though she wasn’t sure why.

“High school can be harsh.” Joey said as they pulled up to the restaurant. They walked in and sat down. Joey smiled at her. “Your classmate, they weren’t too mean were they?” Joey asked. “Not more than normal.” Jenn said. Jenn and Joey talked for the longest time, turns out that had a lot in common. Joey felt bad for her he could tell she didn’t have it very easy at school. As the date was coming to a close Joey put his elbows on the table and lend in close to her.

“That’s pretty.” Joey said pointing to the bracelet on her arm. “Thanks I made it myself. I‘d like to think it‘s lucky.” Jenn said eyeing the purple bracelet. “Does it work?’ Joey asked. “I got to meet you didn’t I?” Jenn asked. “Yeah, so it must work then. Can I borrow it?” Joey asked. “Sure Jenn said slipping it off her wrist. She dropped it in his hand. “Don’t worry I’ll give it back to you.” Joey said slipping it on. “It’s a school night isn’t it?” Joey asked. “Yeah” Jenn said under her breath.
“Then I should get you home.” Joey said getting up and then helping her up. Jenn looked at her watch, it was late. He dropped her off and she gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before going in her house. Joey smiled and then walked away.

They next day Jenn went to school, after all she felt great like a million bucks, that is until her classmates started in on her. Saying that her date was a fake and all that. Jenn was sitting in Mr. Smith’s class talking to Carry. She felt like beating her head against the keyboard. Suddenly there was a knock at the door. It was the principle. “Mr. Smith are you busy?” He asked. “No, not really why?” Mr. Smith. “Great, this young man has something for one of you students.” He said stepping into the class room. Jenn noticed Joey right away standing behind him smiling at her.

Joey walked in and the class fell quite. “Here Jenn. I told you I would give it back to you.” Joey said holding out the bracelet. Jenn took it and quickly wrapped her arms around him. “Thank you so much.” Jenn said softly in his ear. “Don’t mention it.” Joey said hugging her back. He stepped back and pulled something out of his pocket. This is for you too, I forgot to give it to you last night.” Joey said handing her an envelope. “Okay.” Jenn said eyeing the envelope. “Listen I really got to go, but I’ll see you. Okay.” Joey said and then left.

The whole class watch her as she opened the envelope. Inside was 2 front row ticket and backstage passes to the tour that was coming to a big city near by. A note fell onto the floor. Carry picked it up and handed it to her. “Here you dropped this.” She said. Jenn opened it to and it said. “I had a great time last night and I can’t wait to introduce you to the others.” Sincerely, Joey. Jenn just smiled and looked at Jenn. “I don’t have any friends, do you want to go with me?” Jenn asked. “Hell yeah.” Carry yelled and gave her a hug.
