Part 7
“Where is Shay?” The director asked. “I
don’t know where she is.” Courtney said. “Go find
her, we need her.” The director said. Courtney left. The guys
relaxed for a minute and made small talk while they waited. They started
joking about the movie. “She’s going to get you, JC.”
Chris said. “I’m so scared,” JC said. “Hey if
Courtney really was a killer she could take me any day.” Joey
said. They laughed and then stopped suddenly as Courtney came back with
Shay.
“I found her.” Courtney said. “Sorry.” Shay
said. “It’s okay please just take your place so we can move
along.” The director said. It took them a minute to get set up
and ready and then they started taping again.
“Okay.” JC said. That’s
when Linda came in. She’d been there to see them a few times since
the whole thing started. “What were you boys talking about?”
She asked. “JC looked at the others then at her. He wasn’t
sure if he should tell her. So he figured he tell her later. “Nothing.”
Chris said. Linda looked at him. “I’m sorry to hear about
you being attacked last night.” She said. “It’s okay.
I’m just glad I made it through alive.” Chris said.
“Is there anything you can tell me that might help
us get this person?” She asked. “She has brown eyes. But
that’s all I know.” Chris said. “You don’t know
of a motive?” She asked. “No. Not yet.” Lance said.
“I don’t think she has one.” JC said. “Come
on every one who does something like this has a motive.” Linda
said. “But they don’t have to. It’s possible for some
one to kill just for the fun of it.” JC said. “Yeah it is
but why?” Linda said.
Justin got a note pad off the table and wrote on it then
handed it to her. “It’s like when people go deer hunting,
they don’t do it for food they do it for fun. Well where just
the deer now.” Linda said reading the paper Justin had giving
her.
“I see but how is that going to help us get her?”
Linda asked. “Because she’s coming after me next.”
JC said. Linda looked at him. “How do you know that?” She
asked. “She came for Chris and she’ll come for me too. Just
because that was her plan all long, I think.” JC said.
Linda stayed there and talked to them for most of the day.
“JC when you get ready to go home tell me and I’ll go with
you that way if she’s there I’ll get her and if she not
we can fix it so she can’t get in.” Linda said. “Thanks,
Linda.” JC said feeling somewhat relieved.
Just then a page came over the speakers. “JC please report to
the nurses’ station as so as possible.”
“I have to go I’ll be right back!” JC
said. “Watch it JC she has gotten in the hospital before.”
Joey warned. JC just looked at him. He really didn’t think she
would come after him here. When he got to the nurses’ station
one of the old nurses came up to him. “JC dear, I know your busy
with them hurt people and all but my husband called and I have to get
home right away. Could you put these things in the storage room for
me?” She asked. “Yes, I’d be glad to.” JC said.
JC grabbed the two boxes the old nurse had left on the counter and headed
for the storage room. He opened the unlocked door and went in he set
the boxes down and hunted for the light. He was still looking for the
light when he heard a noise. He remembered what Joey had told him. It
wasn’t long till he found the light and turned it on. The room
filled with light but there was nothing there. “JC get a hold
of you.” He said. He put the things away and headed back to the
guy’s room.
“Are we all set up for the next scene?” The
director asked. “We need a few more minutes.” The stagehand
said. “Hurry up.” The director said. They quickly set up
the shot. “This is going to be fun.” JC said. “Sure
just take your places and lets keep on moving.” The director said.
“What is his problem?” Chris asked Lance in a low voice.
“I don’t know.” Lance said. Soon they were ready again.
“Was everything all right?” Joey
asked. “Yeah I just had to do something. “JC you’re
a little jumpy, maybe we should head to your house now you need sleep.”
Linda said. “Yeah okay, I’ll see you guys in the morning.”
JC said getting his coat. They all said good bye then Linda followed
him to his car. JC checked the back seat before getting in. “Maybe
I should drive your in no state of mind right now.” Linda said.
“Yeah you’re right.” JC said then got in on the passenger
seat.
JC lived by himself in a small house not to far from the hospital. Before
they got out of the car Linda got her gun out “Ready?” She
asked. “Yeah.” JC said getting out. He stayed close to Linda
as they entered the house. JC had locked the door so Linda really didn’t
think she was in there. But JC was uneasy so she checked it out any
way. She turned on all the lights and checked each room. The when she
was done her and JC locked all the windows.
“Now JC when I leave lock this door behind me and don’t
come out until morning. I’ll be back then to check on you.”
Linda said. “Okay” JC said showing her to the door. She
left and JC locked the door. He felt safe for the moment. He turned
off all of the light hoping it would look like no one was home then
he went into his room. He locked the door. He remembered Justin’s
story and checked the room once more before getting in to bed.
He got in a pulled the covers up to his chin. The whole
house was dark. JC closed his eyes and started to nod off. It was early
about 8:30 when he fell asleep. But it didn’t seem he’d
been asleep long when he heard the phone ring. He looked at the alarm
clock beside his bed; it read 12:04. “Who could be calling at
this hour?” JC asked.
He wasn’t sure if he should answer it. So he didn’t. He
figured if it was some one important they would leave a message on his
machine. He heard the machine come on down stair but the line was silent
then it went dead. JC found this odd but he wasn’t about to check
it out, until morning.
JC started to drift back to sleep. He went to look at the
clock one last time but as he watched it, its screen went blank. JC
picked it up and looked at it. He thought that maybe it had come unplugged.
So he went to turn on the lamp next to his bed. Nothing happened. That’s
when he heard the thunder. “Power must be out.” JC said
looking out his window and the rain.
It wasn’t till he noted something move below that he started to
worry. He couldn’t see much for the rain. He thought for a minute,
What if that was her calling to see if he was there? He thought. He
became glad that they had locked all the doors and windows.
He lay back down. “Even if she was out side there was no way she
could get in.” He said to himself. Trying to help himself relax.
He was about to fall back a sleep again when he heard glass break down
stairs. His eyes shot open. His breaths speed up. “Relax, JC,
maybe a tree limb or the wind broke the window.” He said to himself.
He almost had himself believing it until he heard the steps creek as
someone made their way up them.
JC was scared now he reached for the phone and picked it up. But he
had forgotten about the power and it was dead. He heard the door down
the hall open then close as she searched for him.
He thought he heard her go back down stair so he got up and walked closer
to the door. He placed his ear to the door to see if he could hear anything.
He heard the rustling of clothes then he saw the doorknob turned, but
stop when it hit the lock. JC was about to move back when the blade
of the ax came through the door just missing his face.
He screamed, knowing he shouldn’t have for maybe then she would
have thought he wasn’t home. He did then he took off for the closet
and got in then shut the door. She now knew right where he was and there
was no where for him to go. She hacked at the door until there was a
hole big enough for her hand then she reached in and unlocked it. She
pushed the door open then walked in.
She looked around the room. She walked over to the bed and looked under
it but he wasn’t there. JC watched her from the keyhole in his
closet door. She took her time. JC had never been so scared in his life
he just wanted it all to be a bad dream that he would wake up from at
any time.
She looked at the closet. Some how she knew that that was
the only other place he could be. She walked over to it. JC could see
her and knew that the closet didn’t lock from the inside. He knew
there was nothing to stop her from opening that door and finding him.
JC searched around him for anything he could use as a weapon.
She flung the door open. JC sat stunned. He really couldn’t see
her in the dark room but she was there. She smiled. JC continued to
look for something he was relieved then his fingers hit the cool metal
of his baseball bat. He picked it up and hit her with it, then went
to run past her as she dropped to the ground. She grabbed his ankle
and he too fell to the floor. JC kicked at her as she held onto his
leg. “Let me go.” JC yelled. She grabbed her ax and tried
to hack at him but he some how got lose. He took off out the door, but
in his hurry he tripped and fell down the stairs.
He lay at the bottom and he could hear her coming. He got all his energy
together then got up slowly. He took off for the kitchen. She reached
the bottom of the steps just in time to reach for him but missed. She
chased him into the kitchen, where he grabbed a knife from one of the
shelves. “Stay back!” He yelled pointing the knife at her.
She laughed.
“I mean it!” JC yelled at her. She smiled and started to
walk around the table. Then she ran at him. JC took off the around the
table the other way then back into the living room. He jumped over furniture
and reached the front door. He unlocked it as fast as he could then
ran out side. She was close behind. He ran around the corner of the
house and then stopped to catch his breath.
He looked over at the power box and noted that it wasn’t going
around anymore then his eyes saw that it had been cut just below it.
She’d cut the power. JC looked back around the house at the front
door but he didn’t see her. He started to turn the corner slowly.
When she grabbed him from behind. JC dropped his knife. She placed her
ax beside his neck and JC stopped fighting. She reached into her cloak
and pulled out a needle. JC was afraid of needles but this one scared
him far more. He couldn’t break free from her grip.
She stuck it in his arm and emptied it slowly. She let go of him. Everything
started to get fuzzy to JC and then he fell to the ground.
They stopped taping and JC sat up. “I think we
can do better.” The director said. “What?” JC asked.
“Let’s do it all over again starting from the top.”
The director said. JC passed out again on the floor. “You’re
joking, right?” Courtney asked. “Nope.” The director
said. Courtney then collapsed next to JC. They were both out of breath.
They ran trough the shot again this time getting everything perfect.
Then it was Shay’s turn to come back on.
