The Big Mistake
By Neko
Part 3
“Hey Justin.” Chris yelled running to catch
up with him. “What’s up dude?” Justin asked turning
to greet Chris. “I found out some more info on the mystery guy.”
Chris said out of breath. “You did?” Justin questioned.
“Yeah, I got to quit this, I’m getting too old.” Chris
said trying to catch his breath. “What did you find out?”
Justin asked. “Oh, I talked to her friends last night, and she
meet him through work. They even had sex in her office.” Chris
explained. “Go figure, girls tell their friends everything.”
Justin snapped. “Yeah, well she didn’t tell them his name
either. But she said he was handsome and the kind of guy she thought
she wanted to be with. She also said he had an amazing way with words.”
Chris explained.
“So your looking for a smooth talking pretty boy?” Justin
asked raising one eye brow. “Yeah.” Chris said with a smile.
“That doesn’t narrow it down to much.” Justin said.
“I know but it‘s a start.” Chris said. “Why
do you want to find him so bad any way?” Justin asked getting
serious for a minute. “Because what he is doing is wrong. He’ll
pay for what he did to her.” Chris snapped. Justin jumped a little
at the sound of Chris voice, it was so sincere and powerful. Justin
hadn’t seen him like this before. “It does take two you
know.” Justin replied. “I know that and Bailey admitted
that she made a mistake, a big one as she put it. She is paying for
it already, having a baby isn’t easy. You forget my mother was
a single mom.” Chris explained. “You really do love her
don’t you?” Justin asked. “Yes, I really do.”
Chris replied. “I admire that.” Justin said
“Are you guys coming or what?” JC asked holding the door
open for them. “Yeah, we’ll be there is just a sec.”
Justin said. “So, do you have any idea who you think it is yet?”
Chris asked as the turned and walked toward JC. “No man, not a
clue, I guess I need more information.” Justin explained then
they both disappeared into the other room.
Things went on that at for a few more weeks. Bailey still insisted that
it wasn‘t important and Chris still insisted that he needed to
know. They fought about it a few times, but the first really heated
argument came during Nsync summer tour. Bailey and her friends had come
to see then on the road. Bailey loved Chris but she was getting increasingly
annoyed with him always asking her about her former lover.
“God, look at you girl.” Lance squealed as Bailey walked
over to him. She was now 2 and a half months pregnant and starting to
show slightly. “Hello, Lance. How are you?” Bailey asked
sweetly. “I’m fine and yourself?” He asked. She rolled
her eyes, “I’ve been better.” “Morning sickness?”
Joey asked. Bailey nodded. “Yeah, Kelly had that really bad the
first few months.” Joey explained. “Please tell me it gets
better.” Bailey begged. Joey laughed, “It will I guess after
you have the baby.”
“Hi, I’m sorry but I don’t remember your name.”
Lance said shaking Marissa’s hand. “I’m Marissa and
this is Kenya.” Marissa said. Lance shook Kenya’s hand.
“You guys meet at my house that one night remember.” Bailey
said. “Yeah, but Justin was in a hurry to leave so we didn’t
stay long.” Lance explained. “What’s up with that
boy any way?” Joey asked. “What do you mean?” Kenya
asked. “He’s just been acting really weird lately.”
Joey explained. “You noticed that too?” Lance asked. “The
guy probably just has a lot on his mind right now, I mean it can’t
be easy being Justin Timberlake.” Bailey said. “You’re
probably right the group does put a lot of pressure on him.” Lance
said.
“There you are.” Chris said putting his arms around Bailey.
“Oh no, you found me.” Bailey squealed. “Where are
the others?” Joey asked. “JC is sleeping and Justin is on
the phone with his mother, it sounded like they were having a heated
discussion about something important, so I left.” Chris explained.
Chris lowered his hands and rested them on her belly. “When are
you going to tell me?” He asked looking her in the eyes. “Chris,
when are you going to quit asking?” Bailey asked getting a little
annoyed. “Why won’t you tell me?” Chris yelled. “Because
it doesn’t matter.” Bailey said. “It matters to me.”
Chris snapped letting go of her.
She folded her arms and looked away from him. “This is silly,
if you loved me you would tell me.” Chris said firmly. She looked
at him shocked. “Baby, I do love you but I don’t want to
hurt you.” Bailey explained. “You are hurting me by not
telling me.” Chris explained. “Chris I can’t take
this right now, please can we talk about it later?” Bailey asked.
“No, I want to talk about it now.” Chris snapped. “Well
I don’t I am going home, I’ll see you guys later.”
Bailey said then left with out another word. “Girl don’t
do this.” Chris yelled after her.
“Dude, you do know that pregnant women are very moody right?”
Joey asked. “I am figuring that out thank you.” Chris said.
“You shouldn’t push her, Chris. You're only going to drive
her away.” Kenya explained. “Speaking of driving, Bailey
just left us, that means we have no way home.” Marissa said realizing
that Bailey had the keys to the car. “You guys can hang out here,
I’m sure she’ll be back later. She just needs to cool off.”
Chris explained.
“If it’s cool with you guys, We would love to.” Kenya
said. “Yeah, stay we will have a great time together.” Lance
said sweetly. “Yeah, I want to talk to you about that guy some
more.” Chris explained. “Are you sure that's such a good
idea?” Marissa asked. “Of curse it is, why wouldn’t
it be?” Chris asked. “I mean Bailey did leave here pretty
mad, you may figure it out but you might loose the girl in the process.”
Kenya explained. Chris thought for a minute.
“If I could figure out who it is then I could talk to him, get
him to do it on his own. Bailey would never have to know that I know.
I would just feel better knowing.” Chris said. “I guess,
but we don’t know that much more than you.” Marissa said.
“It’s okay, come with me.” Chris said taking them
by the arms. He took the back to the dressing room. Justin was still
on the phone but he hung up after he saw Chris returning.
“What’s going on?” Justin asked. “I brought
the girls in here to talk.” Chris explained. “About what?”
Justin asked sitting on the arm rest of the couch. “The mystery
guy, you said your self that girls tell their girl friends everything.”
Chris said. “I did? Oh yeah.” Justin said. “By the
way ladies, this is Justin, as I’m sure you know, he agreed to
help me figure this out.” Chris explained.
“You know Bailey and I don’t really see eye to eye all the
time, but isn’t it wrong for you girls to tell all her secrets.”
Justin asked. “Yeah, it is you’re right we should go.”
Kenya said, she was about to leave when Marissa stopped her. “Wait,
you can’t tell me you honestly don’t want to know.”
Marissa said looking her in the eyes. “I do, I’m sure she’ll
tell us in due time.” Kenya explained. Chris went over and stood
by Justin. He seemed a little stressed out.
“So where is Bailey any way?” Justin asked. “She left,
we kind of got into it.” Chris said looking at his feet. “Maybe
you should back off a little, I mean I know you love her. I’d
hate to see you loose her over this.” Justin explained. “I
just wish she would see just how serious this is. My mother raised me
by herself, it wasn’t easy growing up.” Chris said. Kenya
looked at him, at least now she knew why he was acting this way. “She
isn’t by herself. She has you Chris. You may not be the baby’s
biological father, but if you love Bailey and want to be with her for
the rest of your life, then it shouldn’t matter.” Marissa
explained. Chris looked at her and was about to say something when Justin
interrupted.
“I would love to stay and listen to you guys, but there is something
I really have to go take care of first, I’ll be back in a little
bit and you can fill me in.” Justin explained grabbing his cell
phone then walking out. The others just watched him and the went on
about what they were talking about. JC woke up and walked into the main
room still rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Kenya laughed because his
hair was all messed up. “Good morning ladies.” JC said with
a smile. “Hello sleeping beauty.” Chris said motioning to
JC to fix his hair. JC realized what was going on and then tried his
best to fix it.
“What are you guys doing any way, where is Bailey?” JC asked
finally getting his hair under control. “She left Chris made her
mad.” Marissa explained. JC rolled his eyes, “You really
need to lay off it. I’m sure she has a good reason for leaving
you in the dark. She’s a very smart girl.” JC explained.
Chris fell on to the couch. “Am I wrong, by wanting to know?”
He asked. “Not for that just don’t push so hard.”
JC said. “You know, JC has a point. Bailey has to have another
reason for keeping this from us. If the guy was just a jerk then she
would want us to know and stay away from him.” Kenya explained.
“Your right, I have been so busy trying to figure this out, I
haven’t been a very good boyfriend.” Chris said sitting
up. “You want my advice?” JC asked crossing his arms. “Yeah,
sure shoot.” Chris said burying his face in his hands. “You
should call Bailey take her out to dinner and not say another word about
the baby’s father. Don’t drive her away like this, be the
great guy we all know you can be. Then maybe someday she’ll come
clean about it.” JC said sincerely. “That is great advice.”
Kenya agreed. “Your right, that’s what I’m going to
do. I’m going to be the guy I was before I found out she was having
a baby.” Chris said. JC just smiled.
“Do you want to be alone now?” Marissa asked. “Yeah,
for a little bit, but I’ll leave, you guys can stay.” Chris
said walking to the door. “But we don’t know anybody here.”
Kenya wined. Chris stopped for a moment. ‘it’s okay Chris
you go, I can show you two around for awhile.” JC said. “Thanks,
JC. I’ll talk to you later.” Chris said, he didn’t
want them to tell Bailey that Chris abandoned them in a strange place.
He waved and then stepped out side. “Well ladies, what would you
like to do?” JC asked offering each of them an arm to hold. They
both laughed then took one. “This almost makes up for being left
behind.” Kenya said resting against JC’s strong arm. JC
just smiled and laughed.
